Preface Preface
I got interested in writing solutions of Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Exam questions just for fun. Then, I thought maybe this will be helpful for students who are preparing for the test. The exams cover topics from standard Calculus-based intro physics sequence. I found that questions vary considerably in difficulty and clarity.
It is helpful to have some standard formulas handy or memorized to save time. Almost always, it helps to redraw figure in your own way as you read the question - this step tends to orient your thoughts in the right direction. Another general advice is to work out problems symbolically first and only in the end put the numerical values. Lastly, in the numerical step, it saves time if you deal with powers of 10 separately.
