Chapter 8 Electric Current

So far we have studied electric phenomena associated with stationary charges. In this chapter, we start to address electrical phenomena of moving charges. A conductor has many easily movable electrons, called conduction electrons, or ions if a chemical mixture. When you place a metal in the electric field of some other charges, conduction electrons in the metal start to drift in the direction opposite to the electric field. This is called electron current. In this chapter we will learn to quantfy these drifts.
