Chapter 25 Second Law of Thermodynamics
We have covered the fact that the first law of thermodynamics is all about conservation of energy as long as we include flow of heat as well as wwork as mechanisms by which two objects can exchange energy. The first law does not address any restrictions on the direction of flow of energy between two bodies. For example, it does not say anything about the common experience that hat usually flows from a body at higher temperature to the body at lower temperature. This issue is quantified by the second law of thermodynamics, which we will cover in this chapter.
