Chapter 46 Wave Descrition of Light
Light is fundamentally electromagnetic wave. The ray picture is mostly about looking at directions of light. If you wanted to also examine intensity of light and spreading of light as it encountered obstacles that were of the same dimesion as the wavelength, you will need to approach them using the wave picture. In the current chapter we will review basics of the wave description and address some aspects of energy contained in waves. In the later chapters we will present phenomena that cannot be understood by ray picture alone.
