Chapter 44 Image Formation

A considerable amount of optics involves image formation by optical elements. Images are how light is collected on detectors and how we view an enlarged version of an object. In this chapter we will discuss basic image formation techniques, both for images formed as a result of reflection and by refraction. We will discuss the image formation by instruments in the next chapter.
