Welcome to the exciting topic of Optics. In this chapter we will get out feet wet with some basic fundamental quantities that you need to know for the other chapters to make sense. We wil touch upon the particle picture as well as basic laws of geometric optics. We have already covered some of the wave picture in the chapter on Maxwell’s equations and will cover it again in a later chapter.
