Chapter 38 The Electromagnetic Effect

So far our discussion in electricity and magnetism has been confined to either static charges or steady currents. Static charges gave rise to static electric field and steady currents gave rise to static magnetic field. From this chapter, we examine dynamic electric and magnetic fields. We will see that dynamic electric field can generate magnetic field and that happens in reverse as well, a dynamic magnetic field can generate electric field. In this chapter we discuss Faraday law, which was the first systematic study of dynamic fields.
