Chapter 39 Inductance

When you turn on an electrical circuit you expect magnetic field of the current in the circuit to change with time. The changing magnetic flux in space loops around the circuit get induced EMF, including the circuit itself. In this chapter we will learn to quantify this effect by a property called inductance. The effect of one circuit on itself is quantified by self-inductance and effect of one circuit on another by mutual inductance. The fundamental guiding principle in our analysis will be Faraday’s law from the last chapter.
